Overcoming challenges with opportunity

It has been a decade since the Illinois Dream Act was signed into law. As we reflect on the inequities and fears of an unjust immigration system, along with the lack of equitable access to legal, educational and career opportunities - we know there is still work to be done. Over the years we have developed educational partnerships to help current and prospective students overcome systemic barriers. The largest one impacting students and their families - cost. Our goal has always been to ensure students would have access to funding to help lift the financial strains of college expenses.

The Illinois Dream Fund (ILDF) has been able to provide life-changing financial support to enable undocumented immigrants to successfully matriculate towards degree completion. We equip all applicants with the resources needed to make informed decisions to navigate and pursue educational and career goals. We support policies and procedures that are inclusive of undocumented immigrants, allowing them to reach their full potential.

We are working to establish ILDF liaisons within institutions of higher education across Illinois in partnership with Illinois Community College Board, Illinois Board of Higher Education, Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, UndocuWiki and National Coalition Organizing for Undocumented Rights (NCOUR).
